#SpringCampGWS Notes Day 1

March 20, 2015

  • All your heart, mind, soul, and strength/
  • What would happen if we carried the noise we have on a Friday night into school on Monday morning?
  • We can change the world.
  • Mark 8:38
  • What does it mean to be one of His followers?
  • We must deny ourselves and pick up the cross and follow Him.
  • “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn away from your selfish ways, take up your cross, and follow me.”
  • Don’t start the journey only halfheartedly.
  • Following Him brings us a new life.
  • “If anyone is ashamed of me and my message in these adulterous and sinful days, the Son of Man will be ashamed of that person when he returns in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.”
  • 1) Jesus can’t help but love you.
  • He loves as an extension of His character.
  • It is all or nothing.
  • 2) Jesus is the truth – it is who He is.
  • He is super smart too.
  • If you are not interested at first, Jesus knows that we will walk away and be done.
  • We are super loved.
  • Trust Him with our entire lives.
  • He loves us too much to give us anything but the truth.
  • It is all or nothing.
  • We don’t carry many crosses now a day.
  • 1) Carrying a cross is uncomfortable.
  • Jesus can do something in our lives that the universe can’t.
  • We can be annoyed but we can NOT be surprised.
  • Jesus wants to bring comfort to all of us.
  • 2) It is going to be inconvenient.
  • Carrying a cross makes your moves hard to control.
  • We can’t make Jesus love us more than He already does.
  • It affects absolutely everything.
  • 3) It is noticeable.
  • You can’t hide it – everybody will see it.
  • 4) It’s not cool.
  • It was a mark of shame 2,000 years ago.
  • Intimacy with Jesus will show other people’s ignorance.
  • 5) It is forever.
  • Jesus is not a fad – He wants us forever no matter what.
  • He wants us all of our days and our life.
